A glass of wine with silver lining

Someone considering himself a conscious consumer might be troubled by the levels of sulfites added during the winemaking process when looking for a bottle to celebrate the occasion.

To the joy of end consumers on the lookout for alternatives and global winemakers wanting to substitute the controversial compound normally used, a solution under the name of Silverwine has been developed. It aims at putting an end to an issue the winemakers have been battling for decades.

The solution is a kaolin-silver complex contained in an infusion bag. Its antiseptic and insoluble properties make it qualify as a valid substitution for the traditionally used sulfites. The biocidal power and the fact that the silver used does not leave chemical nor physical residue further speaks in favor of its use as well as the lack of potential allergenic protein fractions and known allergens.
